Project Highlight - Delivering a 50kW Centauro/Bitzer Chill Pack in Leinster
RSL Ireland delivered a custom 50kW Centauro/Bitzer chill pack to a customer in Leinster. Discover how replacing multiple R404A units with a single Bitzer pack, Danfoss FC103 speed drive, and Swep heat recovery system is dramatically cutting energy costs and providing on-site hot water.
One of RSL Ireland’s delivery trucks was on the road again this morning, delivering a custom Centauro / Bitzer 50kW chill pack to our customer in Leinster!
To boost operational efficiency, the customer is replacing multiple existing R404A condensing units with a single, high-performance Bitzer compressor pack running on R134A refrigerant.
By consolidating several older units into one centralised pack, the site instantly gains better reliability, streamlined maintenance, and lower environmental impact.
To ensure maximum energy savings, this Bitzer pack is fitted with a Danfoss FC103 variable speed drive (VSD).
The Danfoss FC103 matches compressor output directly to real-time cooling demand rather than running at full power continuously. This smart capacity control dramatically cuts overall power consumption, resulting in a significant reduction in the end user's electricity bills.
We didn't stop at efficient cooling. To further maximize on-site efficiency, RSL Ireland integrated a Swep heat exchanger directly into the pack for waste heat recovery.
Instead of letting thermal energy go to waste, this system harnesses excess heat from the refrigeration process to generate hot water on site, effectively providing free water heating and driving down energy costs even further.
