Role Overview:
The Assistant Branch Manager/Warehouse Manager supports the Branch Manager in the day-to-day running of the Cork branch, ensuring smooth warehouse, trade counter and customer service operations. This role drives operational efficiency, maintains high customer service standards and ensures compliance with company policies and health & safety regulations.

The Assistant Branch Manager/Warehouse Manager acts as second-in-command and assumes responsibility for branch operations in the absence of the Branch Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

  • Support the Branch Manager in overseeing daily warehouse and trade counter operations.
  • Ensure efficient goods in/out processes, stock control and order fulfilment.
  • Monitor workflow to ensure productivity targets and customer deadlines are met.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and safety throughout the branch.

Customer Service & Sales Support:

  • Lead by example in delivering knowledgeable and courteous customer service.
  • Support trade counter sales and assist with customer queries when required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Assist in driving branch sales performance and achieving revenue targets.

Stock & Inventory Control:

  • Oversee stock accuracy.
  • Support the management of purchasing, returns and supplier issues.
  • Ensure inventory levels are maintained to meet customer demand.

Health & Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Promote and enforce health and safety standards, including manual handling and forklift safety.

Administrative & Reporting Duties:

  • Support reporting on branch performance, stock levels and operational KPIs.
  • Assist with documentation, invoicing queries and system updates.
  • Deputise for the Branch Manager during periods of leave or absence.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing wholesale, hardware wholesale or similar trade environment essential.
  • Proven experience in a senior warehouse/trade counter role.
  • Strong operational knowledge of warehouse procedures and stock control.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Counterbalance Forklift Licence required.
  • Full clean Driving Licence required.
  • Good IT skills and experience with inventory systems.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and decision-making skills.
  • Good command of English spoken and written.

Desirable:

  • Qualification in mechanical, electrical, or HVAC/R engineering, desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience in HVAC/Refrigeration/wholesale or distribution sales.
  • Familiarity with energy-efficient or sustainable HVAC/R solutions.
  • Manual Handling certification.
  • Experience in sales support or branch-level performance management.
